At CNC we value and respect families as the first and most important
teachers of their children. Our programs are designed to support
the partnership between families and staff by offering families opportunities
to actively participate in their children's learning.
- Home Visits are held in the late summer and winter
or when a new family enrolls in our program. This strength-based model
allows families and teachers to form a "team" to set educational,
social, and physical goals for children and to share information about
performance and progress.
- Parent/Teacher Conferences are held at the centers
during the fall and early spring for children in classrooms using The
Work Sampling System. Infant and Toddler conferences are held when
the Observation Record and the Family Album are completed for The
Ounce Scale. Conferences offer opportunities for an in-depth discussion of each child's development.
- Books at Home Program makes it possible for the
children enrolled in our program to receive a new storybook at the
time of the Home Visit.
- Family Nights are held at least six times a year
at each center. These fun-filled evenings are often themed around the
literature the children have enjoyed in the classrooms expanding the
classroom experience to shared family experiences.
- Family Lending Libraries provide families with books
and educational materials to support our literacy-based curriculum, The
Storybook Journey.
